Contracting An Issue-KC is a public, spoken-word documentary performance, choreographed, directed, and co-edited by Cat Mahari. It focused on the stigma and body politics around HIV/AIDS across in Kansas City. The 20-min play featured actors utilizing verbatim theatre in performance in public spaces around Kansas City, and a staged performance at Like-Me-Lighthouse. The monologues from the script are derived from a series of real life, one-on-one interviews asking people how HIV/AIDS has affected their self and community identities and relationships.
